Inside the build

I made a prototype cover for a friend's Silky Bigboy 360.

My intention was that it has to be comfy for work, not only be tough.

The cover is made from Crodura 500D. It's MOLLE compatible, of course, and is easy to attach to a belt. I really thought long about it xD I usually spend quite a lot of time thinking about the simplest, the least annoying solution for attaching things. I don't like fiddling around with straps and snaps, so I avoid such solutions if I can.

I added an extra layer of Cordura 500D in the inside pocket, where the saw can scratch the fabric, for extra durability and to prevent the water-resistant coating on the left side of the fabric from peeling off.

For closing and securing flap I chose Velcro branded hook and loops. I think the velcro keeps the saw secure well enough. Tough I've also added an extra elastic cord around the whole sheath (not visible in the pics).

On the more fancy side - I ditched logo tags and embroidered my little snail logo directly on the pouch front.

I really like the effect. It's there, but it doesn't scream on anyone. And it looks kinda snazzy :,D I actually think I'll stick with direct embroidery. I even get a bit excited, thinking about what else I could embroider directly onto my projects.

The field test

The cover went on its first trip.

And I've got positive feedback, so I'm really happy :D

I wasn't worried about the pouch sturdiness. Cordura is hard to tear, and I'm really nitpicky about my stitches. But I was curious how comfortable it will be when attached to a belt.

So far so good :) I've heard it really makes a difference in work, and that's the best thing I could hear.

Of course, I still want others to test it further. Different people tend to handle and use things in their own way, so I'm still open for the improvements.
